Installation Guide

From Dreams Of Surrender
Easy as pie.
Easy as pie.

Lets get to it, this guide is written for my Patrons (access to my dropbox assumed), but works for everyone else- the difference is grabbing the public version of the files from Wicked.

Preparations

Before anything else you should get the latest version of Sims 4 on your computer. Run it once and load into any game, just to make sure all the folders and files are properly prepared for you in the Documents folder. We will need it shortly.

Go and grab the mod files from my dropbox. The most up to date link is always available here. Dropbox has slightly changed the interface here and there over the years, but the gist stays the same- open the link and click on the Download option. You do not need to make dropbox account or be logged into their service.

I wish dropbox didn't do this scummy account baiting (they didn't in the past), but oh well. After a bit of downloading, you should be the proud owner of Kritical´s Naughty Collection archive file. Well done.

One other thing we need to grab is the latest version of Wicked Whims. You can find it here.

Now both the mods you need to get going should be waiting in your Downloads folder.

Prepared Files
Prepared Files

Since Wicked Whims has an installation instructions inside its own archive file, I will focus on my stuff-

Lets first make a home for our new .package friends. Go into your EA documents Sims 4 mod folder. The path should look something like: C:\Users\username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

Make a new folder in here, call it whatever you want, but something like "Kritical_mods" will probably serve you best.

Before we move on, make note of three files- lastCrash_, lastException_ and BE-ExceptionReport. You might not have the first two, if its a fresh installation of Sims 4, but keep them in mind, they are very helpful for diagnosing issues and you should always send them to the creators when you have an issue (the latest ones that are relevant). The BE file is the output of the excellent Better Exceptions mod, which you should get as well- here. It wont do much for you as a user, but it will help the mod creators work through your potential issues in future, should you encounter any.

If you already have files in your mod folder that are either previous versions of DoS or other files of mine downloaded from sites like Wicked.cc, delete them first. You never want to have two versions of the same file- it causes major issues.

Installation

I´m in!
I´m in!

Once all is ready, take the archive you downloaded from my dropbox and extract its contents into the new folder we made in the previous step. In my example, its "Kritical_mods"

When that is done, you should see several folders such as "Advanced Objects", "Clothing" and so on inside of our created folder- "Kritical_mods" in my case. The mod is installed. Easy, right? But we are not done just yet.

One of the folders we just extracted is of particular interest to us. The folder called "Tray". This guy is smiling at us, trying to pretend he belongs. He does not. Open up this folder and see several other archives. These files dont belong inside of C:\Users\username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods but rather C:\Users\username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray . So, take the archives we´ve found hiding and extract their contents directly into there.

There should be no subfolders here! Your Tray folder should look like a giant mess of files. Once you´ve added my files to it, our file soup is done. Delicious and well done. Now just boot up the game and make sure mods are enabled.

Turn on the mods.

Bada bing! We´re done.

Now you can head over here to get your DoS experience started. Have fun.
